going to therapy is like wanting to get in shape.
Therapy can be uncomfortable and painful at times, especially at the beginning. But at the end, when you look back on all of your progress, you’re so proud of yourself and amazed at how far you’ve come. It takes hard work, determination, and bravery. With consistency and follow through, progress is always possible.
The good news?
you don’t need to go through it alone.
an introduction to therapy
This video from the British Association for Counseling and Psychotherapy provides a great overview of therapy and what to expect. If you’ve never been to therapy before, take a look and see if therapy might be a good fit for you.
Our session will be
-
Personalized
Our initial sessions will be dedicated to assessing your current needs. You already have a wealth of resources to use in achieving your goals, including your interests, history, values, skills, talents, and more. Your treatment plan and sessions will be tailored to your unique needs.
-
Strengths-based
Therapy will focus on finding what works for you and strengthening it. When we find things that keep you from your goals, we’ll find a way to alter or replace them, not shame you for them. My intention is for you to feel capable and empowered after each session.

the process
step 1 (optional): free 20 minute consultation
Ask your questions about therapy and share what you’re looking for in a therapist. After hearing a bit about my approach and the services I can offer, decide if you would like to get started together. If I’m not a good fit, I’ll try my best to find someone who could be. You shouldn’t have to pay to find out if we’re a good fit.
Step 2: Diagnostic assessment
This process takes around 60-90 minutes and provides the opportunity for us to explore the primary question of “How can I help you?”
Step 3: treatment plan
You let me know what changes you wish to see in your life, and we’ll collaborate to create a personalized “road map” of how you want to get there. Every 90 days, we will review progress and share feedback on how effective services are to meet your needs.
